DescriptionThe Institute for Social Research (ISR) on the campus of Sacramento State is seeking to hire twenty-five (25) student assistants to work with our research team as the Telephone Interviewer. This position will assist in data collection by conducting surveys over the phone using Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) Software. The position requires that interviewers participate in the project-specific training and carefully follow study instructions to ensure the quality of data collected. Candidates are required to administer surveys with professionalism and consistency.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentThis is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one college or center per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI position for a different UEI position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week's notice. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.PrerequisitesMust be a Sac State student enrolled in at least six-semester units (undergrad) or four-semester units (graduate) students.Majors/Fields of StudyAnyWork ScheduleFlexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM. Final work schedule to be determined by supervisor. Additional Work ScheduleStudent Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).Minimum Qualifications
- Good interpersonal skills and professionalism; reliability.
- Ability to follow study protocol and to accurately record data into a computer.
- Ability to communicate verbally in a clear and polite manner over the telephone.
- Ability to work independently, and to coordinate with supervisor.
- Must be willing to commit to a minimum of one, four-hour shift weekly during data collection.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (ability to speak, read, and write).
- Experience with Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) software.
- Interest or experience in social sciences, health-related fields and/or research.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys with business owners, managers and employees by telephone.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with survey participants.
- Read survey script and accurately record responses into a computer.
- Consistently follow data collection protocols.
- Administer surveys with courtesy and professionalism.
- Maintain good communication with study supervisor.
- Follow all supervisor instructions and be receptive to feedback.
- Perform basic computer skills.
- Participate in project trainings.
