Job Summary

The Turner College of Business & Technology has openings for Tutors in their tutoring lab. The tutoring lab is available to all students who are enrolled in ACCT 2101- Principles of Accounting I, ACCT 2102 Principles of Accounting II, BUSA 2100 - Introduction to Information Systems in Business, BUSA 3115 Business Analytics I, ECON 2105 Principles of Macroeconomics, ECON 2106 Principles of Microeconomics, FINC 3105 Principles of Finance, FINC 3115 Corporate Financial Analysis, and MISM 3115 Principles of Information Systems Management. Tutors are expected to assist students with understanding quantitative business subjects like accounting, economics, finance, and business statistics. Tutors will be expected to assist and encourage students in the learning process.

Responsibilities

To provide tutoring services and assistance with assignments to students enrolled in ACCT 2101, ACCT 2102, BUSA 2100, BUSA 3115, ECON 2105, ECON 2106, FINC 3105, FINC 3115, and MISM 3115. Tutoring will take place both in person and online in the business tutoring lab in SCCT 347. Students hired for this position will also be required to take and complete the ITDS 2795- Lead Learners course within the first few weeks of working. This course teaches you the best techniques for tutoring

Required Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have taken and earned an above-average grade (A or B) in the principles courses for accounting (financial and managerial), economics (macro and micro), corporate finance, and business analytics/statistics. Candidates should have a strong understanding of using Excel for business calculations and analysis (including Pivot Tables).

Preferred Qualifications

Business majors including Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, and General Business who have successfully completed introductory and some upper-level accounting, business analytics, economics, and finance courses, or are minoring in any of these quantitative business areas. Math majors who have successfully completed some of these courses. Sophomores and upperclassmen who have completed the lower division business core with a GPA of at least 3.25.

Proposed Salary

$15.00/hour- This position can work up to 19 hours per week.

Work Schedule

The Academic Operations Coordinator will create a schedule based on the student assistant's class schedule. The schedule will be set for the semester and no changes will be made once it is set.
