Job Summary
The University Housing Student Assistant (SA) plays an important role in assisting the Department of University Housing and Residence Life in Business Operations to accomplish our mission. The SA for assignments and occupancy will assist in daytime monitoring of the University Housing room assignment processes, occupancy management, and planning and marketing of Housing and Residence Life special events and initiatives. Experiences will include attending planning meetings and coordinating programs such as Move-In Days, Move-Out Days, Room Change Weeks, Preview Days, Orientations, and other departmental initiatives etc. This includes development of publications and materials for the Housing & Residence Life website, emails, etc. This position will report and work directly with the Assistant Director for Assignments and Outreach.
Responsibilities
* Manage the electronic Room Inventory system in StarRez and develop process changes with the Assistant Director for Assignments and Outreach
* Assist in processing room assignments, Room Changes, Housing Contract cancellations, and other duties.
* Assist with managing Housing applications.
* Assist in financial and room assignment audits.
* Assist in email correspondence to students/ residents.
* Assist in posting and auditing of charges to student accounts in StarRez and Banner
* Research best practices for occupancy management.
* Will become an expert in StarRez, student housing program.
* Monitor Instagram account and respond to queries in a timely fashion.
* Maintain professionalism and positively represent University Housing on social media and in person.
* Represent the Department and actively engage with students/ potential students at events such as Move-In Days, Rooms Sign Up, Preview Days, Orientation, and Move-Out
* Assist in training of Residence Life staff members in StarRez or other Assignments processes.
* Assist in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new members of the Engagement Assistant team.
* Prepare and continuously update marketing materials for Housing promotion to current, new, and prospective students, including after-hours events.
* Attend Admission events related to new and prospective students.
* Works closely with the Assistant Director in related tasks
* Serve on University committees as requested.
* Serves on after-hours duty on-call rotation.
* Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
* Currently enrolled Clayton State University student actively pursuing a Graduate level degree is preferred.
* Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Interested and marketing and social media savvy.
* Excellent computer skills in Windows/Microsoft Office
* Ability to collaborate and problem-solve minor issues at the University Housing office.
* Must live on campus.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
* Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Good listening and communication skills
* Customer service oriented
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Display confidence and integrity.
* Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
Typical Work Hours:
Various hours between 8 AM and 5 PM needed, Monday through Friday. Saturday hours may be available for recruitment-related events. This position is limited to working up to 19.5 hours per week.
