Work Location Springfield Campus Department Citizenship & Service Learning Hiring Range $12.30 - $14.99 Department/Employer Operating Hours 8:30 to 5 PM How many hours per week are required? 7 to 10 Description of Primary DutiesPurpose/Role of the Position: The Student Copy Editor will work for the eJournal of Public Affairs and Citizenship & Service-Learning to assist in reviewing, revising, and proofreading written content to ensure clarity, coherence, and adherence to style guidelines. This role helps maintain the quality and professionalism of written materials while providing the student with hands-on experience in editing and publishing. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Proofreading: Review and correct written documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting errors. Editing: Edit content for clarity, consistency, and adherence to style guides or specific formatting requirements. Content Review: Ensure that all content aligns with the intended message, tone, and audience. Occasional Duties and Responsibilities:Support various eJournal of Public Affairs and Citizenship & Service-Learning programs with tasks such as event tabling, public relations, marketing, and basic data management. Required QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
Enrollment Status: Must be currently enrolled as a student at the institution. Skills: Strong command of grammar and punctuation, attention to detail, and proficiency in using editing tools and style guides (e.g., APA, AP). Experience: Previous experience with editing or proofreading is preferred but not required. Coursework in writing, English, or communications is advantageous. Availability: Ability to commit to a regular schedule, with flexibility for deadlines and peak periods.
