Hybrid role with minimum 3 days in officeThis role will provide support for students through programming and referral to appropriate campus resources. A key responsibility of this role will be assessing campus programming and MEM program communication efforts with the objectives of improving MEM's campus reputation and attracting underrepresented student populations.
Event Planning and Programming (35%) - Plan frequent (twice weekly) community building events intended to enrich student experience and provide opportunities for personal and professional growth
- Plan orientation programming in conjunction with other MEM staff and faculty
- Work with admissions team to coordinate events for prospective students and plan appropriate programming
MEM Communication (25%) - Maintain MEM student resources website, Canvas site for campus students, and monitor Pratt/MEM external website for needed content updates
- Build student awareness and use of Canvas site, establishing it as a resource for MEM staff to share information with students and, eventually, students to share information with each other (clubs, events, etc.)
- Provide assistance with social media for MEMP, determining need for more focused content and/or advertising to attract potential students
- Create and send the weekly MEMO e-newsletter
- Manage listservs for the program
- Manage alumni software platform, HiveBrite, while working with MEM team to rethink aspects of alumni involvement, particularly related to student recruiting and mentoring, possibly including identifying:
- Guest speakers or facilitators for community building events
- Mentors for new students
- Alumni program ambassadors to talk with admitted students
- Program ambassadors for industry events and conferences
- Identify gaps in prospective student outreach and make recommendations for reaching new students and increasing diversity of student population
- Represent MEM at local or national events that may help increase applications from professionals and other target student populations
- Create promotional materials for the MEM program's prospective students, including assisting with creating general MEM program presentation materials.
- Identify opportunities within Duke community and more broadly to promote the MEM program's brand (submitting content for publications/websites, participating in campus groups, etc.)
Student Services (20%) - Provide appropriate resources for students in need by using and updating resource lists in coordination with Academic Coordinators.
- Create and share resources that prepare students to be ambassadors for the MEM program, both on campus and in professional settings.
- Reevaluate orientation programming, making recommendations for clear expectations of students from both behavioral and professional standpoints
- Develop resources and plan events to acclimate students to standards for respectful behavior, local culture, tenants of professionalism, etc.
- Manage student conference requests and track applications.
Other Responsibilities (20%) - Serve as liaison between student clubs and program faculty and administration
- In conjunction with Administrative Manager (AM), maintain calendar for MEM staff used for anticipating and ensuring adequate planning for academic events and deadlines
- Manage the hiring process for MEM student leadership positions and conducting interviews
- Manage MEM front office workers and assigning tasks
- Manage TA recruiting, onboarding, supporting, and supervising
Minimum QualificationsEducationWork requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
