The position coordinates the health center and reports to the Director of Student Affairs and engagement. This is a 75% full-time equivalency (FTE) 9-month full-time, standing appointment. Full Penn State health care and educational benefits areincluded.The RN will have the following duties and responsibilities, but may not be limited to: * provide health services and nursing practices to patients in accordance with guidelines, policies and procedures and plan care based on assessment and protocols * collaborate with consulting physician on scheduling and patient care orders * supervise and inventory clinic and supplies/equipment/medications/services * Ensure compliance with Penn State's immunization and health screening requirements for students * Maintain required documentation and records * liaison with off-campus community agencies/organizations/resources in support of student care * coordinate clinics and immunization programs as needed * Provide self-care advice based on assessment; refer for external care and assist students with appointments, instruct patients to seek urgent care or respond in emergency situations * Coordinate student immunization compliance and assist students related to health insurance * Serve as a patient advocate by attending to patient concerns, assessing situations, reporting concerns * Assess own professional learning and attend in-services and continuing education programs to maintain and improve clinical knowledge and skills * Practice sound clinical judgment, careful listening, critical thinking, and effective decision making in the performance of duties * Additional duties that may arise in the healthcare landscapeThe successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to student health and wellness utilizing best practices to guide operations and services. As a member of the Student Affairs team, collaborate with staff and offices to develop and sponsor health and wellness educational programs for the campus community. In addition, the nurse serves on campus committees, and represents health services at campus events.Accredited bachelor's degree in nursing (or equivalent) plus four years of effective experience in college health nursing, emergency care, public health nursing, school health nursing, occupational health nursing, or related area, including experience in health education and health promotion programs.
