Job Title Student Helpdesk Technician (Federal Work Study) Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Student Helpdesk Technician to join our team and ensure that our students, faculty, and staff receive the best technical support possible. There are (3) positions available, located on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus and the Tyson Family Center in Monroe, as well as the LLP Campus in Polkton. The students will work under the direction of the Student Technology Services Manager.
Essential Duties Summary
The Student Helpdesk Technician will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to students, faculty, and staff. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, resolving network problems, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems within the college.
Key Responsibilities:
* Respond to user inquiries and provide technical support via phone, email, or in-person.
* Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
* Install, configure, and maintain computer systems and applications.
* Assist with the setup and maintenance of user accounts and permissions.
* Document and track issues using a ticketing system.
* Provide training and guidance to end-users on IT best practices.
* Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve complex issues.
* Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.
* Stay updated with the latest technology trends and best practices.
* Support classroom technology and assist with audiovisual equipment setup.
Required Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Special Conditions Eligibility Summary
Students must have completed a current year's FAFSA, be eligible for Federal Financial Aid, be enrolled at South Piedmont Community College, be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (GPA of 2.000 or higher, a completion rate of 67% or higher, not exceeding the maximum timeframe of 150%) to apply.
