Job Description:
Student Information Systems Administrator The position is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the College's student, faculty, and staff information systems and for providing training, guidance, and support to end users. The position has accountability for maintaining the security, integrity and reliability of the College's critical applications and databases and additionally contributes to IT planning, design, implementation and maintenance of the organization's IT systems and applications. Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Manage, support, and maintain Student Information System applications and databases which include Ellucian's PowerCampus, PowerCampus Self-Service, PowerFaids, and Canvas by working closely with end-user departments and staffs to assess needs, trouble shoot and respond to changes.
  • Manage, support, and maintain the 3rd party software integrations between PowerCampus, PowerFaids, Microsoft's Dynamics, and Canvas.
  • Contributes to development the training and support of end-users in the use of the Student and Financial Information Systems and other enterprise applications that are used in various administrative and academic areas.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Helps to support a comprehensive IT strategy and plan aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Works closely with other IT staff to help evaluate new and emerging technologies that could enhance the organization's IT capabilities.
  • Creates test environments for rolling out major upgrades to allow users to perform thorough testing prior to implementing the upgrade in production.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the IT Team in the development and enforcement of Information Security policy and practices, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Maintain and respect highly sensitive and confidential information owned by the College.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other IT team members.
  • Operates as part of the IT Team reporting to the President.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL Server database administration
  • Deep understanding of database design, structure, and maintenance, information systems and business Intelligence concepts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic understanding of student information systems, Web based applications and Client/Server software.
  • Knowledge in developing and implementing IT strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong ability to use effective problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills to influence management, as well as internal and external partners.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service orientation, experience in partnering with other units, and fostering a team spirit within the department.
  • Comfortable communicating with groups of people as well as good presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working in a higher education institution is desirable.
Minimum Requirements:
  • 5 years of experience managing an Application Support/SQL databases.
  • An advanced degree and/ or certification is beneficial.
