Student Life Specialist (Student Life, Division of Student Affairs)-REOPENED-**POSITION DETAILS**The Student Life Specialist will report to the Director of Student Life. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Student Life Specialist will be responsible for the following duties:· Coordinates Parent Initiatives during Orientation and regular communication with Parents through an online Parent Newsletter.· Creates Orientation initiatives with student organizations, administrative and academic departments to provide a rich array of student programing and events for new students.· Develops initiatives for Hunter College Affinity Spaces and Multi- Faith Spaces which will engage students in diversity and equity programming, will engage and partner with faculty curriculum and programs, and special programs administered by Hunter College Staff.· Coordinates the execution of administrative operations for the Undergraduate and Graduate Student Governments with the Office of Student Activities to ensure accountability and compliance to their constitutional obligations.· Reviews all aspects of affinity spaces and multi faith spaces, and manages the resolution of student and student group issues.· Conducts frequent assessment of program effectiveness through statistical summaries of participant data and program attendance.· Coordinates College wide events such as Commencement, Convocation and Orientation.· Participates in College wide Committees· Coordinates evening and weekend events as necessary.**QUALIFICATIONS**Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:Candidates must possess a clear understanding of student development and the importance of co-curricular programming to student learning. Candidates must be able to provide leadership and service learning opportunities to students and have a proven record of success in program development and management. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to take initiative, use sound judgment to make decisions and resolve problems diplomatically and discretely. Must work effectively with a very diverse student body and be able to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, faculty, and a wide variety of campus departments. Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities, manage multiple demands, and meet deadlines. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication, presentation and networking skills are required. Candidate must have excellent leadership training skills, provides staff and students with regular training opportunities and will be able to work collaboratively with academic departments, administrators and faculty members to develop a service learning program for students.**CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW**- Develops and implements programming, services, and learning opportunities for students, promoting the personal development of a diverse student population.- Administers one or more student affairs programs, providing program management, assistance with policy development, supervision and training of all professional and support staff, budget monitoring, and report preparation- Serves as a resource to student groups and/or populations as a consultant and advocate for their concerns- Researches and stays current on higher education programs, trends, and issues with student impact- Produces workshops and materials to support student programs; manages on-line communities; develops on-line social networking activities, and develops and maintains multimedia content on program web sites- Performs related duties as assigned.**CUNY TITLE**Higher Education Assistant**FLSA**Exempt**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**Salary commensurate with education and experience $62,411-$72,667.CUNY's benefits contribute significantly to total compensation, supporting health and wellness, financial well-being, and professional development.
