Brady Art Gallery is an educational art gallery whose mission to collect, preserve, and exhibit the George Washington University's art collection is augmented by quality exhibitions of contemporary and historic art that activate the GW Collection and reflect the greater Washington, D.C. region.Position Specific Summary The Luther W. Brady Art Gallery is seeking a meticulous collections assistant to help with tasks related to a large gift that came into the GW Collection as well as other collections tasks related to the university's art collection of 4400 objects. The tasks include a mixture of on-site work with collections and database work that could be done remotely.Potential Tasks: Obtaining non-exclusive license agreements for recently received pieces Rehousing works in Ashburn post-conservation Preparing works for class visits Updating collections information in databaseThe ideal candidate would have taken graduate Museum Studies, Art History, or Anthropology courses or have worked in the Collections/Registrarial Department of a museum or gallery.Standard Position Description The student will assist with curatorial and exhibit-related operations in a Museum or Gallery. Tasks may include: preparation of exhibit installations and pieces, assisting with creation and planning of exhibitions, construction and design of exhibition spaces; handling, maintaining, and preserving art and other artifacts; and assisting in editing and formatting documents.
