Job DescriptionPTBS 51300: EMPA Course Coordinator: Kris Bosela Purpose of the job: Responsibilities include that each TA with oversee 2 weekly open labs that are 2-hours long (4 total hours/week) outside of regularly scheduled lab times (Unlocking lab, getting out equipment/putting equipment away)-you and the course coordinator will figure out times for open labs based on lab availability/your availability and student availability. Requirements/Qualifications: Senior (PY1) or Graduate Year I students in the Physical Therapy Program who are in good academic standing. Successful previous completion of this course. Good communication skills and the ability to interact with other students is essential. Course Needs: 3 Teaching Assistants needed. Flexible hours determined by course coordinator and TA's based on student availability.PTBS 51000 Peripheral Joint MobilizationCourse Coordinator: John WinslowPurpose of the Job: Assist in joint mob labs, demonstrate techniques, answer student questions, participate in oral/practical exams, and independently supervise 1-2 open labs per week.Requirements/Qualifications: Graduate student 1 with a passion for manual therapy who received a B+ or better in the soft tissue and peripheral joint mobilization courses. Student should be highly motivated, professional, and possess exceptional verbal communication skills. Course Needs: 1 lab assistant for each of the following sections: PTBS 52304-03 Mon 10:00-11:50 PTBS 52304-04 Mon 1:00-2:50 PTBS 52304-02 Mon 3:00-4:50Open lab times (1-2 hours per week, evening during the week or Sunday) to be determined PDPT 61100 Neurological Rehabilitation ICourse Coordinator: Laura GrasPurpose of the job: The TA will host open labs based on their availability, assist with in person IPE event, assist in grading the Project Wheelchair Users papers.Requirements/Qualifications: Grad Year II student who has a love for neuro who received a B+ or better in Neuro Rehab I. The TA should be able to share their knowledge with the students in the open lab while they practice.Course Needs: 1 lab assistant is needed 1 hour a week for open lab in Block II, 1 hour for the IPE event on Monday 4/15 from 6-8:30pm, 5 hours to grade papers. PDPT 61000 Cardiopulmonary Testing and Management Course Coordinator: Mike Groman Purpose of the job: To support the learning of Grad Year I students in Cardiopulmonary Testing and ManagementRequirements/Qualifications: A Graduate Year II student in good academic standing, who successfully completed PDPT 61000 (Cardiopulmonary Testing and Management). Essential functions of this position include: Quality communication skills, ability to interact with students in a lab setting, organize and run open lab, a strong command of the cardiovascular and pulmonary lab evaluations, and cardiopulmonary interventions content. Ability to take and interpret vital signs data.Course Needs: To assist with one section of lab (Tuesdays from 3:00 - 4:50 p.m.) during Block 2. In addition, supervise open lab(s). Options would be 2 one-hour open labs/week or 1 two-hour open lab/week.PDPT 60900 Motor Development Course Coordinator: Kimber KurrPurpose of the job: To assist with recruiting and coordinating lab participants coming into lab. We have 4 different lab sessions across the semester where we have lab participants coming in to work with the students. These are grouped into different age groups from infancy to older adults. As a TA you will be assisting with recruiting individuals to come to lab including making and putting out flyers and electronic communications, checking and responding to emails in our designated group email, sending group and individual email reminders to participants, and assisting with finding and directing participants from the parking lot to the lab area on days where the participants are coming into lab.Requirements/Qualifications:Good communication skills, organized.Course Needs: The TA can be in any cohort of students.The TA will need time available on Tuesdays in the spring semester to assist with participant lab days, 4 days across the semester. The times would be from 9:45-10:30am, 12:45-1:30, and 2:45-3:30. If you cannot do all of these times that is ok as long as you can do 1-2. Other time requirements are flexible and include checking and responding to emails but this will need to be done more frequently the week prior to the participant lab days. The TA should be a student who is organized and able to stay on top of frequently checking the email and responding to the emails. The TA should have strong communication skills to be able to communicate with the lab participants and their caregivers as well as with the course coordinator.Time requirements are listed above on the day of the labs. This would be in addition to 2-3 hours per week the week before the lab day.
