- Valid NH General Special Education certification or proof of eligibility
- Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal regulations and IEP development
- Ability to handle confidential information with complete security
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively
- Ability to work lead and collaboratively as an interdisciplinary team member in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, students, families and school personnel
- Minimum 3 years successful teaching experience preferred
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive as travel is required
Reports to: Special Education Director Evaluation: Annually Job Goal: To use leadership, supervisory and communication skills to ensure appropriate services to all students, provide consultation to staff, case manage out-of-district students, and serve as a positive liaison between staff, building administrators and families. Performance Duties
- Serve as the Local Education Agency representative at special education team meetings across the district
- Collaborate with special education teachers to support the completion of paperwork and program planning for students with IEPs
- Case manage out-of-district and court ordered students with responsibilties that include researching placement options for the student in NH and surrounding states, working collaboratively with families and supporting agencies, scheduling and attending meetings, writing IEPs, and addressing any concerns in a timely manner
- Serve as a liaison between home and the school district for wrap around services when needed
- Manage and respond in a timely manner to all requests for representation of the school district at student court hearings
- Represent the school district for Alternative Dispute Resolutions
- Assist building teams in the planning for assessment, identification, program development and placement of identified students
- Provide assistance, in-service trainings, and support to paraprofessional staff as needed
- Facilitate and consult with regular and special education teachers for increased student inclusion
- Assist the Special Education Director in organizing, implementing and evaluating programs for special and regular education teachers
- Assist the Special Education Director in budget development as needed
- Work collaboratively with the related service providers in the provision of services to students with IEPs
- Assist with monitoring compliance of student caseloads in the NHSEIS system.
- Work with in-district private schools for the provision of equitable services
- Assist with planning and monitoring of Extended School Year
- Provide support to the in-district specialized programs for students with IEPs
- Assist with the scheduling and consultation with contracted agencies and their providers
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee will occasionally be required to stand, walk, bend and reach. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 15 pounds. Manual dexterity is required to finger, handle or grasp objects. Must be able to hear and talk.
