You will be taken to a new page and will be prompted to create a new candidate account .Position Summary:Student Supplemental Instruction (SI) Group Tutoring Leaders serve as a small-group tutoring leader for a particular course they have previously taken and done well in. SI Group Tutoring Leaders attend the current semester of the course assigned in order to plan targeted study sessions and serve as positive student role model. SI Group Tutoring Leaders will advertise, plan, and hold at least one 60-minute study session per week throughout the semester for students in the course, using strategies learned through attending class and SI Group Tutoring Leader training. These study sessions are interactive emphasizing student-to-student contact and focusing on material review such as practice problems or methods of reviewing course notes. The SI Group Tutoring Leader role will generally require 5 to 7 paid hours per week including course attendance, planning, and holding study sessions. Essential Job Functions:
Attend all class meetings of selected course, take notes, and read assigned materials including texts and supplemental readingsServe as positive student role modelPromote and advertise to the class your SI group study session timesPlan (using SI Session Planning Form) and conduct at least one 60-minute study session per week throughout the term using strategies learned through the SI Group Tutoring Leader training workshopsRegularly meet with SI Supervisor for planning or debriefing sessionsNotify SI Supervisor about problems or potential problemsAscertain course requirements and maintain contact throughout the term with course faculty memberMeet with other SI Group Tutoring Leaders and supervisory staff at scheduled meetingsOther duties as assigned by supervisory staffWork Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. The individual is routinely exposed to indoor conditions, minimum outdoor weather and temperature extremes, and moderate noise level.Qualifications/Prerequisites:
COMMUNICATIONStrong verbal and written communication skills, organizational/planning skills SKILLSNone required. Prefer experience or volunteer work in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, youth development, or a similar role.
