Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field
  • Minimum three years successful classroom teaching experience
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working with low-income youth and/or students with disabilities
  • Working with students who may have Social Emotional Behavior deficits (social awareness, self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision making, and relationship skills), including poor attendance.
  • Desire to build strong relationships with students AND their families
  • Commitment/participation for the entire duration of the grant (2.6 years max). This position ends when the grant ends (May 2026)
  • Excellent communication skills with students AND parents, is approachable, and possess a friendly disposition
  • Collaborate with adults including Parents, Teachers, School Counselors, FRYSC, School Psychologists, and Administrators, and others invested in the success of the child

  • Create safe, healthy, supportive, and drug-free environments for students across the district while building stronger connections for students who may need tiered support
  • Work with MTSS teams to implement tiered interventions targeting Social Emotional Behavior, Positive Behavior, and Attendance
  • Create opportunities for positive outcomes for students such as:
  • Improve attendance by decreasing chronic absenteeism rate
  • Improve student well-being and sense of belonging by decreasing the number of students reporting loneliness, and decreasing chronic absenteeism rate
  • Improve student behavior by decreasing office discipline behavior referrals
  • Improve student academic performance by increasing passing grades
  • Improve staff competency in SEL 3 signature practices through modeling, coaching, and professional learning opportunities
  • Improve student social, emotional, and mental well-being by implementing tiered interventions using evidence based programs/curricula
  • Improve school safety by decreasing incidents of vaping and bullying
  • Job Description: The student success coaches will serve as mentors for students while also delivering evidence based processes and curriculum as part of their schools tiered system of support. They will work closely with Administrators, School Counselors, Family Resource Centers, and community agencies to build authentic, caring relationships with students. The goal of the success coach as mentors is to build stronger connections and improve interpersonal relationships with peers, teachers, and other adults. This can occur through individual instruction, small group sessions, or whole group lessons with a tiered delivery to include Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support. The success coach will be responsible for designing and implementing interventions using Ripple Effects, WhyTry curriculum, Second Step curriculum, Check and Connect (app), and Character Strong, along with other practices such as phone calls, home visits, and student/family check-ins. The success coach will periodically and methodically monitor students attendance, grades, and behavior, and consult with other school-based personnel to identify students who need additional support or interventions. The Success Coach may explicitly teach skills, model skills, role play, practice skills, reinforce skills, and provide necessary support for students to be successful at school. The success coach will routinely monitor and report attendance data, school-level discipline data, social emotional universal screening data, early warning data, and persistence to graduation data. The success coaches will work with school staff to implement a school-wide attendance awareness campaign. The success coach will serve on the school's PBIS team, MTSS team, and other committees/councils as needed, and routinely communicate student attendance, behavior, and academic data.
