Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY: The Student Success Coordinator coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services in the district to effectively support students' personal, social emotional and academic achievement needs through targeted guidance, outreach, consultation, and education services for students, families and staff. This position will include ten additional contracted work days.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:EQUITY/INCLUSION (15%)
  • Cultivate an inclusive educational environment where every student, regardless of background or circumstance, can excel and flourish through deeper learning.
  • Support K-12 student, parent and community relations
  • Provide professional development for K-12 certified and non-certified staff as needed
  • MTSS (10%)
  • Coordinate Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions and collect data to determine their effectiveness based on data provided through our Early Warning System and other relevant information.
  • Coordinate with teachers, social workers, counselors, school linked mental health professionals and school administration to track progress of student interventions.
  • Provide intervention training for certified staff as needed.
  • Utilize data management systems to track and analyze student performance data.
  • STUDENT SUCCESS COORDINATOR (65%)
  • Provide student leadership in all areas of the school setting including hallways, locker banks, passing time, school assemblies, classrooms and student meetings.
  • Lead intake and readmission meetings to improve attendance and following school discipline.
  • Meet regularly with student affinity groups to facilitate a positive, responsive school culture at NPHS and NPMS.
  • Provide student interventions in the areas of attendance, academics, school culture and social skills by maintaining a caseload of students.
  • Analyze educational data to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Working with and assisting students to achieve academic success.
  • Identify and resolve barriers to academic success.
  • Student Leadership Program Coordinator
  • Meet regularly with student leadership groups
  • Coordinate a monthly leadership training program for students at NPHS and NPMS
  • AMERICAN INDIAN EDUCATION COORDINATOR (10%)
  • Write and manage grants for the State and Federal American Indian Education programs.
  • Manage, facilitate, and empower the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee, including coordination of meetings and activities, transparent, frequent, and specific collaboration regarding budget, spending, goals, strategies, and progress toward goals for Indigenous students and families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested including, but not limited to, attending professional development meetings, in-services and workshops.WORK REQUIREMENTS AND CHARACTERISTICS: Education/Certification/Licensure:
    • BA or BS degree in education, counseling, social work or closely related field
    • Valid Minnesota Teaching License Preferred
    • Valid Administrative License Preferred
    Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful teaching or educational leadership experience preferred
    • Prior experience in program coordination or in a leadership role preferred
    • Experience building relationships with teens with a wide variety of academic needs, understanding of public school systems and how to navigate and advocate for students
    Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills (oral and written) with students and adults
    • Independent worker that demonstrates initiative and high-level task completion
    • Proven ability to establish and maintain cooperative, effective working relationship with others
    • Ability to constantly make decisions and act within the district and building policies, procedures and guidelines
    • Ability to work with District partners and negotiate agreements and student opportunities
    • Ability to work in a diverse environment
    • Knowledge of legal mandates regarding provision of services
    • Ability to exercise confidentiality in handling district information
    • Ability to travel regionally to support business partnerships and student opportunities
    • Experience with program development and implementation
    Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices, and Software:
    • Utilizes various software applications
    • Operates computer, printer, copy machine and other electronic or technological equipment required for the specific position
    • Uses Gmail to receive district communication
    Physical Job Requirements:
    • Extended periods of standing when teaching and sitting during meetings and deskwork
    • Repetitive motion keyboarding activities
    • Extended periods of speaking and/or voice projection
    • May lift equipment or supplies up to 25 lbs.
    • Bending, stooping, or sitting on the floor to perform classroom activities or to provide one to one assistance
    Mental Job Requirements:
    • Position requires prioritizing work duties, organizing classroom settings and taking initiative to explore new activities and ideas to enhance student learning
    • Position requires conflict resolution and the need to effectively present information to peers, students, parents and colleagues in a timely manner
    • Position involves analyzing and interpreting professional materials
    • Position involves solving in situations resulting in solutions that are appropriate and that follow district policies and procedures
    • Position involves responding to changing technology
    Working Conditions:
    • Duties are generally performed in a typical school and/or business setting which typically includes moderate noise from students, computers and other work related equipment
    • Work may also be performed where there are minimal environmental hazards and risks Employee(s) may be exposed occasionally to disagreeable conditions involving human/student/parental contact
    • Frequent travel to other district buildings or out of district meetings
