Towson University values diversity and fosters a climate that is grounded in respect and inclusion to cultivate the intellectual and personal growth of the entire university community.The Student Success Coordinator will support grant-funded and internal projects focused on increasing student success in the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics, focusing on students from underrepresented groups, transfer students, and students in pre-professional programs.
Responsibilities and Duties - Assists the project directors with all aspects of grant-related activities.
- Assists in planning and coordinating all program-related activities, including lectures, conferences, seminars, workshops, symposiums, etc. Supervises undergraduate assistants.
- Coordinates travel for students participating in the Bridges Programs and MD-HIRES. Supports travel coordination for students within the Department of Biological Sciences.
- Conducts meetings with program students to collect and report information related to academic progress, involvement in program activities, career goals, and mental wellness. Collects, compiles, and organizes these data in preparation for annual reports for funding agencies.
- Assists in hiring and coordinating the work of students employed by the grant-funded programs (assistance in completing hiring forms; coordination of student employee schedules; acting as a liaison between program directors, students, and their faculty mentors).
- Serves as a resource for students in these programs by pushing out research and internship opportunities, advising students, and supervising student support activities. Develops a job shadow network/ database for preprofessional students.
- Travels to conferences and other campuses to represent these projects and recruit students to these programs.
- Organizes program marketing and social media presence, and participates in open houses and other recruiting activities on campus.
- Participates in other activities to support student success including helping other student-focused programs as needed.
- Occasional work outside normal hours during recruitment season.
Qualifications and Skills - Bachelor's degree
- Two years of experience coordinating student support programs.
- The selected candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively; interact effectively with internal and external parties; and manage multiple and continuing assignments.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize among many tasks are required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree in a STEM field, grant and project management experience, and experience working with diverse groups of college students.
