Job Title: Student Success CoordinatorDepartment:Integrated Student ServicesClassification: Full-time, Non-exempt (NUS)Supervisor:Assistant ProvostLocation: Seattle, WA (Hybrid)Target Date: April 2025 Compensation: $28.11 per hourPOSITION OVERVIEW: The Student Success Coordinator (SSC) is responsible for supporting students throughout the academic life cycle. The SSC provides navigational support to students through advising, academic coaching, and student success strategies. In a proactive and preventative role, the SSC will assist academically at-risk students with administrative processes and facilitate communication between the student and the appropriate program and university departments. The SSC position will coordinate and conduct comprehensive and culturally competent focused academic advising and student support services to help students persist in their program of study, including retention support systems, coaching, mentoring, and for students impacted by environmental, social support, and college readiness factors.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as secondary respondent to AUS Student Services inbox responding to requests on a timely basis; act as the first point of contact for Student Services questions; Provide navigational support to students regarding university processes.
- Coordinates the Peer Mentoring, Student Success and Diversity Fellows programs designed to foster and support student leadership, support student success and retention, build community and develop enduring, trusting relationships with students.
- Works collaboratively with Assistant Provost, Academic Leadership, Student Services, faculty to support the development of strategies to enhance student success, retention and persistence.
- Coordinates and delivers services to assist students with the transition into higher education and navigate the university environment, to develop effective study strategies and life skills to implement within the classroom and outside of the classroom as students work toward individual academic and personal goals and to become more involved on campus by referring them to appropriate department workshop and/or campus resources.
- Researches and delivers successful college/university retention programs to identify practices,procedures, and consequences of academic standing.
- Researches and implements practices to enhance student persistence and completion.
- Provide direct student support and coaching to assist with developing conflict management andself-advocacy to improve student communication skills.
- Focus on student mediation practices and approaches to resolve common conflicts when facingdifficult conversations productively.
- Assist with data collection and report creation for the Associate Provost and University Registrar.
- Follows departmental policies and procedures regarding security and confidentiality of documents.
- Monitors early alert systems of performance and academic progress risk, thus identifying andproviding timely interventions for those in need.
- Refers students to appropriate staff and resources.
- Assists students with degree audit access and interpretation, access to narratives, updating contact information, clarifying SAP status and communications, submitting graduation application, and processing change of academic program (if no new application needed).
- Acts as liaison to at-risk students whether self-identified or faculty/staff identified.
- Prepares and implements intervention plans to work with at-risk students by connecting them with support staff and other resources to improve academic standing.
- Assists with the outreach efforts including coordinating key events / meetings, maintaining regular communication with students and faculty.
- Tracks, collects, analyzes, and reports on data related to student achievement and retention.
- Conducts exit interviews for students who drop classes and/or withdraws from the University and prepares reports of the collected data.
- Coordinates referrals and other University resources such as tutoring, writing centers, information technology, and disability support services.
- Trains students in techniques to monitor their own progress toward achieving educational, personal, and career goals.
- Communicates about academic progress and behavior as necessary with students and their academic advisors with respect to their persistence and matriculation.
- Responds to inquiries from applicants, students, and faculty in person and by phone, mail, and e-mail.
UNIVERSITY ISS AND AUS SPECIAL PROJECTS AND COMMITTEES
- Serves on the university-wide New Student Orientation Committee in consultation with the Office of Student Success. Collaborate with academic and student services leaders, program staff, and faculty on the design, coordination, and evaluation of NSO, including content for the university-wide website.
- Serve on the university-wide Student Success Symposium Planning Committee to help plan an annual event and speaker series that addresses critical student retention and persistence issues.
- Serve on the university-wide Unintentional Harm Committee.
- Coordinate the Peer Mentoring, Student Success and Diversity Fellows programs designed to foster and support student leadership, support student success and retention, build community and develop enduring, trusting relationships with students.
- Works closely with the University HEDIB with coordination and creation of special events andprojects where needed.
- Aid with the planning and delivery of student events on campus and the annual commencement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, conflict management, social services or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years experience in an administrative role, advocacy, or support services.
- Two years of experience working in an office setting with a high degree of contact with the public
- Knowledge of current, high-impact retention initiatives
- Documented experience in data entry, report generation, documents, and spreadsheets.
Preferred qualifications:
- Prior experience in a student-facing role within a higher education setting
- Prior experience working with international student populations
- Experience with student information systems or other enterprise systems

- Demonstrated ability in commonly used office applications and data management systems (e.g. Google Suite,
- Microsoft Suite, records or case management systems).

HOURS OF EMPLOYMENTThis is a full-time position serving a national university.
