Position DetailsPosition Information Position Title Student Success Specialist FLSA Classification NE Reports to Senior Student Success Specialist and CSS Trainer Salary Range H1 Weeks Per Year 52 Work Week 40 hours (minimum) Position Summary Assumes responsibility for providing quality customer service to all prospective and current students and parents regarding registration, financial aid, loan disbursements, veteran educational benefits, and payment policies. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.Hiring Range The starting hour rate is $18.75Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Serves as the first point of contact for prospective and current students and their parents regarding University policies and procedures for registration, student financial assistance, and payment concerns. Assumes responsibility for providing quality customer service, resolving inquiries as necessary and appropriate. Researches, analyzes and prepares breakdowns of student tuition accounts in response to questions from students and/or parents. Takes initiative to follows up on issues, referring customers to appropriate personnel if necessary.Processes registration and add/drop forms, resolves issues with closed classes, major and college restrictions, course pre-requisites and/or time conflicts. Provides prospective and current students with options regarding open sections of classes. Accepts, processes and records cash, checks and/or credit payments and deposits in the CASHNet cashiering and BANNER systems. Balances daily payment entries as totaled on the cashier checkout. Balances cash drawers on a daily basis.Updates and maintains the Clear to Attend system indicator based on pay-plan guidelines as required. Processes refund requests and acts as first point of contact for electronic refunding program. Works with faculty and staff advisors to ensure appropriate registration assignments for new students. Assists with orientation and initial training of new Center for Student Success staff, Federal Work Study students and on-going training initiatives for the department. Attends orientation sessions. Processes enrollment certifications accurately and a timely manner for Veteran Affairs as a School Certified Official (SCO).Distributes and collects administrative forms and other related paperwork. Verifies all documents received to ensure necessary information is provided. Inputs all relevant information into the database, updating demographic information as needed. Scans documents and forwards them to the appropriate department for final processing.Acts as a liaison to other University departments and external agencies as appropriate.Represents Registrar, Bursar and the Center for Student Success at various internal events and open houses. Understands and educates enrolled students and their parents regarding the various financial aid programs and opportunities at the University of Hartford.Advises students and/or parents on the requirements and procedures in order to obtain and/or maintain financial aid eligibility.Keeps abreast of all federal and regulatory guidelines including FERPA and Department of Education policies, in addition to adhering to strict compliance with academic and financial policies of the University.Analyzes and resolves collection issues as appropriate.Verifies pending loan disbursements. Assists in the facilitation of intent agreements for the Collections Department to ensure student accounts are cleared for registration.Forwards completed documents to the Bursar's Office for further action. Advises students and parents regarding payment options as necessary and appropriate. Responds to inquiries regarding educational tax credits as reported to students by the University.Maintains accurate computer and paper files on student accounts in an effort to ensure the integrity of the data as well as easy retrieval by department staff.Performs other duties as assigned.Posting Detail Information Posting Number PS1013P Working Conditions Normal office situationEducation Associate's Degree or Two Year University equivalent required.Physical Effort Typically sitting at a desk or table.
