Job DescriptionPurpose of the job:Documentation: Responsibilities include viewing lectures and attending labs via zoom (1-2hrs/wk). TAs would assist students as needed with documentation skills in those designated labs. Grading of assignments and final examinations will be required throughout the course. To enhance consistency amongst graders, teaching assistants will grade together for at least one hour each week, at a mutually agreed upon time, to review any common errors. Following this hour the TA will have flexibility in grading the remainder of that week's assignments. Mobility Training: Responsibilities include attending lab and listening to online lectures, assisting with set-up, break down, teaching of hands-on skills, as well as answering student questions and providing demonstrations. Running a 2 hour weekly open lab outside of regularly scheduled lab times will also be required. Assisting in student grading will be a responsibility of the position by performing check-outs of skills for bed mobility, transfers, gait, and elevations, assisting in grading SOAP notes, and a discharge summary. Requirements/Qualifications:Documentation: Seniors/ rising Graduate Year I physical therapy students in good academic standing, who demonstrate effective verbal communication skills, are punctual, take initiative, and have a strong interest in helping students learn. Students should also have a good understanding of how to write a SOAP note, the correct format of a SOAP note, and will be expected to grade objectively using a formatted grading rubric. Mobility: Graduate studentsin the Physical Therapy Program who are in good academic standing and have successfully completed the course prior. Essential functions of this position include demonstration of appropriate patient handling skills, good communication and teaching skills, good documentation skills, and ability to interact with others.Course Needs:Documentation: Online lectures to be posted for Tuesdays- Lecture: 8-9am, Lab 9-10:00am and 10-11:00am. Faculty member holds the right to change dates as needed. TAs will start end of May and finish end of July. Two teaching assistants will be needed. Weekly class times are 9:00am-11:00am (TAs will need to be present at zoom open lab hours, 2hrs/wk, and can view lecture at their own convenience. Additional hours per week changes slightly dependent upon assignments due that week. Grading is completed through canvas and predominantly on your own time based on your schedule with weekly short group meetings to ensure consistency. Number of total hours throughout the 8-week course will be approx. 60-70 hours. On average students will assist approximately 7 hours per week, including class time, which may potentially increase or decrease on particular weeks depending on assignments and grading needs.
