Position Type: Support Staff/Student Support AssistantDate Posted: 11/5/2024Location: Raymore-Peculiar East Middle SchoolDate Available: When FilledClosing Date: Open Until FilledThe Raymore-Peculiar School District is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Student Support Assistant for East Middle School. This position assists in providing a supportive learning environment with specific responsibility for providing academic and behavioral interventions for individual or small groups of students, monitoring and reporting student progress toward established goals, and providing assistance for student supervision. Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborates with the district and building MTSS team to identify students in need of interventions.
  • Facilitates individual and small group instruction of academics, social, and behavioral skills.
  • Assists assigned instructional staff in improving students' learning skills, self-care, and/or social development for the purpose of providing learning concepts and materials.
  • Documents observations of student performance in academic and school activities (e.g. social skills, behavior, assignments, etc.) for the purpose of collecting data on the fidelity of interventions.
  • Participates in communication and collaboration with teachers and staff regarding students' progress for the purpose of participating in needs assessments and/or assisting in evaluating progress.
  • Supervises student behavior and performance (e.g. recovery room, in-school suspension, lunch detentions, cafeteria, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety of the students and supporting established success plans.
  • Facilitates student 504 accommodations as needed.
  • Assists in monitoring for attendance concerns and follows up with administrators and counselors as needed to address attendance issues.
  • Serves on the Student Response Team to provide immediate support during student crises or emergencies and collaborates with appropriate staff members to ensure student safety and well-being.
  • Participates in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills related to student support and youth development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Candidate must be willing to obtain a Missouri Substitute Certificate which requires a minimum of 36 college hours or completion of an online certification course.
  • Missouri teaching certificate preferred
  • Previous experience working with children in a school setting preferred.
Salary:
  • $15.07 - $18.02/hour depending on relevant education and experience.
Benefits: This is considered a full time position with benefits available after 60 days of employment.
