Position DetailsPosition Information Position Title Student Support Assistant - Welcome Center Reports To DirectorFunctions and Responsibilities Job Summary Under the supervision of the Manager of the Welcome Center, the Student Support Assistant is responsible for providing prospective students with onboarding services leading to successful student enrollment.Supervisory RoleDuties & Responsibilities 1. Assist students with completing applications and securing placement through placement test appointments or waivers under multiple measures.2. Provide academic advisement to students3. Assist students with registering for courses and degree programs that lead to the achievement of their academic goals.4. Provide academic advisement and support mentorship activities to students5. Provide information about the federal financial aid application process.6. Provide guidance and information to students on the college, its programs, and availableacademic and non-academic student support services.7. Collaborate with representatives from academic and non-academic departments to resolve student issues.8. Participate in (part-time staff do not attend professional conferences) training and professional development opportunities.9. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of student records.10. Prepare routine, special, and ancillary reports as required.11. Perform other related duties as required.Physical RequirementsAdditional RequirementsMinimum Qualifications Minimum Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Associate Degree or higher.2. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.3. Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment.4. Demonstrated knowledge of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite operations and, Student Webs Services Portal.5. Excellent interpersonal skills.6. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.7. Excellent time and project management skills.8. Strong record-keeping and assessment skills.9. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced environment.Minimum Education RequirementsLicenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)Preferred Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Two or more years' experience in admissions at an institution of higher education with knowledge of admissions guidelines, policies, and procedures.2. Demonstrated knowledge of financial aid programs.3. Demonstrated knowledge of the college community, local community organizations, and local outside agencies.4. Fluent in Spanish or Creole languages.Education RequirementsLicenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)
