Job Schedule: Part Time Standard Hours: 30 Job Shift: Shift 1 Shift Details: This is a part time, 30 hrs/week position. Schedule: 10-month school calendar; 8:00AM 2:00PM.

Natchaug Hospital is Eastern Connecticuts leading provider for children, adolescents and adults with mental illness and substance abuse addictions. We offer a variety of programs including inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, residential treatment for court-involved teenage girls, geriatric services, clinical day treatment schools and chemical dependency services. Through our multi-site network of care, we constantly strive to meet its mission in helping people find their way while educating and empowering individuals to participate in their own care and recovery.

Job Summary

The Student Support Paraprofessional provides 1 to 1, IEP related services, and directly attends to certain specified needs of the student. Working under the supervision of certified staff, the Paraprofessional provides observation and monitoring of assigned students to support learning, ensure safety and prevent injury. Coaches a student towards established goals which increase academic success and decrease behavioral disruptions. Works collaboratively with assigned teachers, clinicians and other support staff.

This position is part-time, 30 hrs/week, no benefits. Career growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children and/or adolescents in an educational or clinical setting preferred
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Valid drivers license
  • Familiarity with behavior management techniques and procedures
  • Effective communication skills
