Hiring Department College of Arts & Science Job Description The College of Arts & Science is seeking a Student Support Specialist II to provide comprehensive support to students within the School of Visual Studies (SVS). This role aims to enhance student engagement, foster academic success, and promote a positive learning environment. - Serve as a key point of contact for faculty and students, effectively addressing School needs and requests
- Assist the Directors of Graduate Studies (DGS) by providing support for graduate programs
- Provide Slate application reports and updates
- Prepare required assistantship documentation for tuition waivers and insurance subsidies
- Act as a liaison between Visual Studies and the Graduate School
- Coordinate social media by creating engaging content and managing story assignments, while collaborating with the College of Arts & Science Communications team
- Ensure security of the Bingham Gallery by managing daily opening and closing procedures and monitoring security cameras
- Order classroom equipment and supplies for faculty
- Order keys, coordinate badge access, and submit work orders
- Provide space planning support for daily activities and special events
- Hire work-study students, providing supervision of clerical tasks
- Hire models for art classes as needed and supervise hours
- Maintain the registration process for student lockers
- Assist the SVS course scheduler and other administrative support duties as needed
Shift Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.This position is located in the Fine Arts Building. Must be available for reliable and consistent onsite work. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessaryPreferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in an academic environment, particularly in student services or administrative support roles.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation, along with experience in managing social media accounts.
- Strong organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an office team environment and build positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize SVS duties and work independently as needed.
