DAYS PER YEAR: 197 DAYSSALARY MIN: $62,360JOB TITLE: Student Support Specialist-SCEREPORTS TO: Elementary Campus PrincipalWAGE/HOUR STATUS: ExemptPAY GRADE: AI2, Eligible for Teacher Incentive Allotment CompensationPRIMARY PURPOSE:The Student Support Specialist reports to the Campus Principal and will serve to increase the academic achievement and reduce the drop-out rate of at risk students. The Student Support Specialist will provide students with comprehensive, coordinated, integrated, and customized supports that are accessible, timely, and strength-based so they can achieve in school.All employees of Spring ISD are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, and champion the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.QUALIFICATIONS:Required:? Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University? Standard Texas teaching certificatePreferred:? Three years experience of successful teachingSPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:? Thorough understanding of state and federal accountability? Comprehensive knowledge of state assessments? Knowledge of the district curriculum? Knowledge of the district intervention programs? Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills? Quality oral presentations and written reports? Detailed Orientated, meet required deadlinesMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Instruction:? Provide direct instruction for at-risk students.? Provide academic intervention, support, and monitoring of at-risk students.? Planning and implementation of effective instruction.? Analyze student data to identify trends and areas of improvement in instruction.? Lead and actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to contribute to school-wide instructional improvement efforts.? Monitor the academic progress of identified students engaged in academic interventions with the Instructional Specialist.Student Support and Compliance:? Monitor PEIMS Coding to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.? Lead and monitor students within the RTI process for both academic and behavior success.? Oversee student progress monitoring records for effectiveness and communicate with appropriate stakeholders for supports needed.? Conduct analysis of student performance data to provide guidance to the RTI team and assist teachers with tracking data to determine the effectiveness of classroom interventions.?Attend and provide district-level professional development to stay abreast of best practices.?Participate and collaborate with the Instructional Leadership team on teaching and learning practices.WORKING CONDITIONS:The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This position will also require both traveling within the district and state wide.
