Position: Student Support SpecialistStatus: Full-time, Regular, Non-exempt, 12-monthDepartment: FinanceReports to: Director of Financial Aid and Director of Student Financial ServicesPay: $22.00 to $25.00 per hourDescription: The Student Support Specialist is a key contact for students and their families in submitting family financial information and understanding the College's student financial aid awards and student accounts.Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as the initial point of contact for students and families inquiring about student financial aid and student accounts with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Prioritize and escalate student service to department managers in the Office of Financial Aid and Student Financial Services as needed.
- Provide excellent service to our students and their families through all forms of communication.
- Provide accurate, clear, and comprehensive information to all stakeholders of the Office of Financial Aid and Student Financial Services.
- Work collaboratively with other campus office staff, especially Admissions, HEOP, Business Office, and IT.
- Utilize college software systems to rectify student financial aid/account issues swiftly and efficiently.
- Monitor Student Employee earnings and work with Payroll, as necessary.
- Oversee the office's Net Partner and Web Client applications.
- Process all payments to student accounts and deposit to bank daily.
- Reconcile monthly cash receipts with Staff Accountant.
- Perform routine office tasks.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree preferred.
- Extraordinary customer service skills, as well as the ability to participate in difficult conversations with respect and consideration.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage the information that is provided to the offices by students and their families.
- Competency and experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively in many circumstances and independently without constant supervision at other times.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to meet the responsibilities of the office.
- Ability to work with a broad range of diverse individuals and groups to form a safe and inclusive campus community.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of student financial aid.
