Information about the area can be found atWe expect to fill FEW position(s) at this time; however, additional positions may be filled from this announcement if it becomes available.**Responsibilities**+ Maintenance type duties on buildings, equipment, and the grounds to include painting, sanding, greasing, fueling, sprinkler valve and head repair, piping repairs and similar other duties requiring hand tools.+ Lawn care duties to include operation of commercial mowing equipment, commercial grounds vehicles, garden and lawn care tools such as pruning shears, hand saws, shovels, rakes, axes, and picks. **Travel Required**Not required** Supervisory status**No** Promotion Potential**None**Requirements**** Conditions of Employment**+ U.S. Citizenship is required upon conversion.+ Be sure to read the How to Apply and Required Documents Sections.+ You cannot hold an active real estate license; nor can you have an interest or hold stocks in firms with interest in Federal Land.+ Direct Deposit Required.+ Appointment will be subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation/determination.+ You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. In addition, your responses to the questions must adequately reflect in your resume. ** Qualifications**This is a temporary, excepted service appointment under the BLM Pathways Internship Program that is expected not-to-exceed 1 year. This type of appointment is intended only for temporary projects, to perform labor-intensive tasks not requiring subject matter expertise, or to fill traditional summer jobs. The BLM will require the selected applicant to complete a Participant Agreement in which it shall document the anticipated start and end dates for this temporary appointment.This position is for students accepted for enrollment or are currently enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in an accredited high school, technical or vocational school, 2-year or 4-year college or university, graduate or professional school, on a full- or half-time basis (as defined by the academic institution in which the student is enrolled).**ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:*** Be at least 16 years of age or older for a non-arduous or non-hazardous duty position.;* Be a student enrolled or accepted for enrollment at least half-time and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying accredited educational institution (high school, technical or vocational school, two- or four-year college or university, graduate or professional school);* Be in good academic standing as defined by the educational institution at least 2.0 or higher (**must provide documentation to verify GPA**);* Provide an unofficial/official certified school transcript or proof of enrollment **(must show current status)**You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.**Physical Demands:**The work requires very heavy physical effort, the physical ability to spend long hours in the field walking, bending, kneeling, grasping, pinching, twisting, climbing, shoveling, operating equipment, and carrying loads up to 80 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.**Work Environment:**Work is performed in all types of weather. The incumbent will be exposed to fuel, grease, fumes, smoke, noise, vibration, dust, mud, and ice. Clothing and skin will become dirty, muddy, and greasy. There are many potential hazards while performing maintenance work. The operator is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning, trench cave-ins, falling rocks or tree branches. Incumbent should be alert to these hazards and be prepared to cope with them before they become a problem.
