Clarification from the agencyIndividuals enrolled in law school pursuing a Juris Doctor degree. Rising Second and Third Year Law Students who are U.S. Citizens and Nationals.DutiesLaw Student Volunteer Interns have the opportunity to promote the Office's mission by working on both criminal and civil cases arising from a wide range of federal laws. The Office does not silo interns. Law Student Volunteer Interns assist with investigations as well as trial and appellate work. They research and write drafts of filings and briefs. They also help prepare for and observe hearings, trials, and appeals on which they are working or in which they are interested.Law Student Volunteer Interns substantially work in person in our Providence, Rhode Island office weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm. They also may be eligible to request to telework one day a week.Requirements Conditions of Employment
  • Background Investigation is required.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must submit a law school transcript.
  • You must be at least 16 years of age or older.
QualificationsTo be eligible for this internship ALL of the following requirements must be met:
  • Citizenship: Applicants must be U.S. Citizens
  • Student Status: Must have completed at least one year of law school before the start of their internship.
  • Background Investigation: You must successfully complete a background check.
  • Volunteer Agreement: Applicants must commit to working 35 to 40 hours per week for at least 8 weeks.
The Office is flexible about extending the internship period relative to students' academic commitments.Additional informationSalary:Uncompensated.
