Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Student Worker - Campus Recreation Assistant (CRA). The Office of Student Life exists to facilitate student learning and engagement opportunities that build community and promote holistic well-being and transformative development of the Nevada State Student body. The CRA student worker position will support this mission by being a key player in the Office of Student Life's mission to build a culture of involvement by directly serving students and getting them connected to the campus community. The student worker will be a key contributor in the implementation, marketing, and oversight of recreation programs. The student worker will also help engage the student population to support the student's continuous success through programming, training, and development. This role requires a significant level of autonomy, leadership, and responsibility.

Core Responsibilities:

* Implement peer-to-peer Fitness Center Liability Training by holding bi-weekly training to open opportunities for the campus population to ensure safe and professional usage of the equipment in the gym.

* Work directly with the Coordinator of Campus Recreation to plan and execute large scale daily recreation, fitness, and sporting events, including but not limited to basketball, hikes, pickleball, e-sports, etc.

* Independently manage marketing projects as assigned to advance the mission of the Office of Student Life including but not limited to social media and personal outreach, creating & posting flyers, and tabling.

* Enhance the programmatic offerings of Campus Recreation by developing/leading passive and active programs, identifying/creating resources, and providing guidance to students participating in Fitness Center activities as well as general recreation events.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.

* Must have completed at least 12 hours, and at least 6 of them at Nevada State.

* Be in good academic standing with a 2.0 minimum GPA.

* Demonstrated enthusiasm for co-curricular involvement as part of the university experience (clubs and organizations, volunteer work, on campus employment, etc.).

* Demonstrated enthusiasm for indoor and outdoor recreation programming.

* Ability to work independently and as a team on a variety of complex projects.

* Ability to enthusiastically present oneself professionally and interact with others in a courteous and respectful manner.

* Ability to follow oral and written instructions, learn and apply procedures and regulations.

* Ability to work and manage multiple duties and projects while meeting deadlines.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment.

* Ability to operate standard office machines such as personal computers, scanners, and copiers.

* Ability to learn and operate fitness center equipment in a safe and professional manner.

* Openness to training on databases when needed.

* Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:

* Previous experience working on campus?.

* Previous experience in a customer service driven position.

* Familiarity with ScorpionCentral.NevadaState.edu and how to maximize its value as an end-user.

* Experience using Microsoft Office.

Work Hours:

The Campus Recreation Assistant will be expected to work between 10 and 19.5 hours per week, typically averaging 15 hours per week.??Student employees can work up to 19.5 hours per week.

Hourly Rate:

$14.00 per hour.
