Job Summary/Basic Function The Center for Health Education & Promotion is seeking Peer Educators to provide lifestyle education programs, host awareness events and information tables, and provide educational resources to students on a wide collection of topics including: alcohol and other drugs; body and mind; sexual violence and sexual responsibility. Peer Educators engage the campus community and provide students with important information on the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle, resources and services available at Millersville University, and how to safely make the most out of their college experience.

Preferred Qualifications - Sophomore or Junior class standing
- Interested in health and wellness topics relevant to college students
- Previous experience with programming, presenting, researching
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
Job Duties Administrative
- Attend weekly staff meetings. (Typically, Mondays or Tuesdays from 9-10pm)
- Attend weekly peer educator meetings. (Typically, around lunch time/common hour on Tuesdays or Thursdays)
- Work 3, regularly scheduled office hours (your choice) in the CHEP office. ( Cumberland House - 2 South George Street )
- Create Get Involved events and track attendance at all events, programs, and outreaches.
- Assist with the management of CHEP social media and creation of content including promotional posts for events, outreach, and programs.
- Represent CHEP on various campus-wide planning committees.
Training
- Attend a week-long mandatory training the week prior to the start of the fall semester.
- This training is the same time as Resident Assistant training and Orientation Leader responsibilities.
- Students are paid for this training and are required to attend the entire length of training.
- Training is Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. (August 19-23, 2024)
- Complete online Certified Peer Educator ( CPE ) training through NASPA .
- Attend a week-long mandatory training the week prior to the start of the fall semester in August 2023. ( August 14-18, 2023 )
- This training is the same time as Resident Assistant training and Orientation Leader responsibilities.
- Students are paid for this training and are required to attend the entire length of training.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and trainings.
Program Design and Implementation
- Present interactive, educational workshops.
- Create and implement outreach initiatives on campus pertaining to health topics relevant to college students as well as worldwide wellbeing related topics.
- Assist in the development and implementation of campus-wide awareness events.
- Develop educational programs based on research.
- Create marketing campaigns from survey data.
Research & Assessment
- Conduct program assessments including pre and posttests during all interactive, educational workshops.
- Develop and implement means for assessing awareness events and outreach initiatives.
- Routinely assess student feedback and make necessary program revisions.
- Create compiled reports of program assessments and student feedback.
- Assist in distribution and collection of departmental surveys.
