Position Summary

Job Summary

Are you passionate about creative storytelling and shaping brand experiences? This marketing internship is your chance to gain hands-on experience with a dynamic team. You'll support our marketing efforts across various channels, from social media and content creation to campaign execution, as well as event planning and project management. This internship is a great opportunity to learn from industry professionals and make a real impact on our brand.

The United Way fights for the Health, Educational, and Financial Stability of every person in Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union Counties. We do this by addressing the root causes of social issues and serving as a leader, partner, and catalyst to identify and address areas of need by engaging communities to develop long-term social change.

As a service-based organization, our core values and focus are on the needs of our local community. From early education to food security, substance use disorder to transportation challenges - we identify our community's greatest needs and work to bring local legislators and community leaders together to tackle these issues. As a marketing department, it is our job to share all the incredible stories and hard work our teams and departments do within the community.

Specific Responsibilities:

* Develop and expand the current marketing and editorial calendar for the organization.

* Update and creative content for new and ongoing marketing campaigns

* Schedule posts across all social media channels

* Update the website and blog content, create press releases and media alerts, etc.

* Design imagery for use in different digital and marketing campaigns

* Work with members of the organization to build and maintain current content and archive any out-of-date content.

* Work to increase the followership on all social media accounts.

* Develop digital fundraising and event promotional strategies and content for annual campaigns (ie. Raise the Region, Day of Action, etc.)

* Coordinate with local vendors and other nonprofit organizations on collaborative marketing and promotional events.

* Create promotional and event materials (brochures, fliers, etc.) for special events, committees, and departments of the organization as needed.

* Updating existing promotional and educational materials.

* Work to find new and innovative ways to engage audiences and donors

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

* Creative writing skills

* Interest in Social Media Marketing,

* Some design skills or experience with Canva is a plus

* Experience in Project Management and Event Planning is preferred

Required Qualifications

Learning Objectives

* Public and media relations: intern will learn how to develop and sustain engaging media relationships, manage public relations strategy, and advise all departments and program heads regarding marketing planning and implementation

* Brand Identity: intern will learn about brand strategy and implementation, research industry trends and public perception, and aid in the creation of marketing and advertising campaigns to strengthen SVUW's brand identity.

* Event planning: intern will conceptualize theme ideas, plan budgets, book venues, liaison with suppliers and clients, manage logistics, and present post-event reports.

Education

First year, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior.

Marketing, Creative Writing, Public and/or Media Relations Majors.

3.0 GPA

Experience

No experience required. Experience in Project Management and Event Planning is preferred

Location

This position consists of a combination of onsite work at Susquehanna Valley United Way and remote work which can be completed on SU campus.

Additional Requirements

* This position is paid $11.00/hour with an estimated 10 hours weekly.

* Required to attend weekly one-on-one meetings with the overseeing manager, Danielle Velkoff, scheduled based on availability.

* Encouraged to attend the bi-weekly Events and Marketing Committee Meetings and any event-specific meetings as schedule permits.

* Encouraged to attend both the monthly All-staff Check-In and Training (1st Wednesday of the Month at 8:45 - 10:00 AM and 3rd Wednesday of the Month at 12:30 - 3:30 PM) as schedule permits.
