Position Summary
Job Summary
The Resident Assistant (RA) is a student staff member who supports Residence Life in overseeing and responding to the needs and concerns of members of the residential community. This position aids and participates in the development of a safe, healthy, and inclusive community in their assigned area. This position includes a private room. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under FLSA regulations.
This position directly reports to an Area Coordinator (AC).
Specific Responsibilities
* Participate in events sponsored by the office including, but not limited to, opening, closing, orientation, housing selection, senior week and commencement activities.
* Maintain a visible presence within the residential community.
* Serve in an on-call rotation as scheduled and outlined by departmental guidelines.
* Respond to resident and facility concerns promptly and refer to additional campus resources as needed.
* Maintain confidentiality, respect, and professionalism when interacting with members of community.
* Programming and bulletin board requirements must be completed as directed by the Residence Life Office, in accordance with the outlined programming model.
* Address, enforce, and abide by all federal and state laws, as well as all University policies and procedures.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Residence Life Office.

Additional Requirements
* RAs must maintain a cumulative and semester(s) GPA no lower than 2.5.
* RAs may not have a severe conduct history and must be in good standing with the university.
* RAs must attend all departmental training throughout their employment.
* RAs must assist with all openings and closings of all residence halls and will be expected to stay late and return to campus early during breaks and semesters.
* RAs are considered a Campus Security Authority for the university. As such, you shall immediately report any crimes that you are made aware of to the Office of Campus Safety.
* Resident Assistants are compensated with a fully paid room and a percentage of board (meal plan) with subsequent years of service in the role.
