About The Opportunity

We are looking for a product owner to drive the initiation, execution, and application of new technology products across the StudentUniverse business. This person will work with the whole business to identify and prioritize the most valuable projects, work with the off-shore development teams to ensure acceptance criteria are met, and ensure that the delivered product is optimized and meets business goals. Given the strong focus on exclusive flight deals for Students and Young Adults, a key part of the role will be to ensure we are always offering the best fare at the right price to our customers. This will rely on strong familiarity with fare structures and GDS (Sabre) tools, including both Agent tooling and API interfaces.

This role will support the development of the Student Universe product as well as becoming the subject matter expert on GDS fare loading and auditing to ensure the fares negotiated are properly brought through the supply chain and displayed to the traveler.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the business to identify and quantify benefits of product enhancements.
  • Participate in off-shore agile teams across small, medium, and large complexity initiatives.
  • Own, define, and prioritize the product backlog, establish user stories and acceptance criteria, obtain customer validation through data analytics and user feedback.
  • Facilitate backlog refinement, including reviewing and updating backlog items, providing information to the business and technology teams to establish feasibility and time/cost estimates, breaking backlog items into acceptable chunks, and submitting new items to the backlog.
  • Communicate backlog status and prioritization to the business team.
  • Drive continuous improvement to GDS content sourcing and display, using data analysis to identify areas of improvement.
  • Drive improvements to unit economics and performance.
  • Scope and prioritize in the backlog development related to GDS search and rate display.
  • Perform regular rate audits on GDS content to validate proper rates are being returned and displayed.

Experience & Qualifications

  • High learning agility.
  • Ability to build relationships across the team and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work directly with the tech team, project management, and business stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of GDS (prefer Sabre) air APIs and fare rules.
  • Strong analytical skillset, comfortable working on large data sets and utilizing data visualization tools.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $100,000. Base salary is dependent on relevant factors, including experience, geographic location, and job requirements.
