This role requires creativity, compassion, and strong organizational skills to develop programs that foster self-expression, build life skills, and empower participants to explore their artistic talents. The position includes producing an annual musical performance, developing adaptable curricula, teaching classes, and collaborating with staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality, inclusive programming.The Role
- Design and implement visual and performing arts curriculum to accommodate various skill levels, ensuring accessibility and participant engagement
- Produce an annual musical performance, overseeing set design, directing, costumes, and props, coordinating volunteers, and securing the venue
- Teach a minimum of eight hours per week in visual and performing arts, fostering self-expression and confidence among participants
- Collaborate with Recreation staff and volunteers to align schedules, prevent program conflicts, and enhance participant experience
- Document attendance, incident reports, and program data while ensuring compliance with safety standards and crisis protocols
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, preparing materials and supplies, and communicating needs to the supervisor
- Attend training sessions and team meetings to stay current on best practices and contribute to program improvements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required, with extensive experience in arts programming; Bachelor's Degree in Arts Education, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of one year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Must complete and achieve certification in the Lambs Farm DSP program within 120 days of hire
- Proficiency in writing, speaking, and understanding English
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including accurate typing, navigating websites, entering and recalling data, using word processors and spreadsheet software, managing emails, and familiarity with digital communication etiquette and techniques
- Physically capable of performing tasks that require bending, lifting, and walking, with the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds to manage mobility aids and assist participants
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, bringing enthusiasm, adaptability, and a commitment to creating a supportive environment
