Job Description: This position serves the Division of Civic & Global Engagement and is responsible for all aspects of advising a sizable caseload of summer, semester and year-long study abroad students. In addition, this position is responsible for several areas critical to the Division including, pre-departure orientation, reentry programming, student mentorship, specific events and programs, maintaining a welcoming office space, and special projects as assigned.Location: GlensideResponsibilities:Study Abroad Advising (70%)
  • Advise students preparing to study abroad on academically appropriate programs, based on their academic, career, cultural, and personal goals.
  • Advise students on study abroad policies, credit transfer, finances, and scholarship support.
  • Resolve curricular issues in conjunction with students, advisor(s), and departments.
  • Correspond with students and parents regarding problems or concerns before, during, and after program participation.
  • Continue supporting students and finding creative ways to encourage application in an effort to retain them after their initial advising meeting.
  • Coordinate STAMP (Study Abroad Mentor Program).
Programmatic and Events-based Support (25%)
  • Support and coordinate events and programs including in planning and organization, promotion, during-event management, and post-event administrative needs.
  • Events and programs of the Division requiring support include but are not limited to: Study Abroad Fair, Global
  • Expo, Pre-Departure Orientation; pre-orientation program; Day of Service at orientation; and County leadership breakfasts.
Marginal Functions (5%)
  • Provides data support and collection for internal requests, as well as some annual, external requests (e.g., Open
  • Doors reporting)
  • Provides ongoing administrative assistance for office upkeep including coordinating communications with facilities and IT and keeping supplies stocked
Qualifications:Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - verbal, written, and presenting
  • Demonstrated ability to stay organized and on track, and to manage complexity
  • Enthusiasm for working with college students
  • Enthusiasm for the guiding principles of our University strategy: justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Experience with, or willingness to learn, a CRM system (Salesforce)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a culturally diverse educational community
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and understand necessary data systems
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Work experience in a higher education setting
  • Experience studying, living, or working abroad strongly preferred

  • Given: Student workers (up to 20 hours/week of direct support at your discretion)
