JOB SUMMARY The Point of Care (PoC) Coordinator supervises, establishes and monitors PoC testing according to accepted Laboratory practices and regulatory agencies. Cooperates with internal and external customers, collaborating with other team members and disciplines in coordination of patient care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
- Establishes testing and quality control procedures for all POC testing. Monitors the recording and reporting of test results.
- Monitors all required documentation and quality control results at each POC testing location. Performs statistical study (CV, DS, trend study, etc.) as required by regulatory agencies on quality control to identify, document, and take corrective action if necessary.
- Calibrates and standardizes POC instruments by applying criteria of acceptable functions and performance limits, i.e. linearity, reproducibility, correlations as established by the manufacturer or regulatory agencies.
- Assesses data needs, designs data collection procedures, identifies quality assurance Monitors and indicators, and reviews all data examined at each testing location.
- Establishes and Performs training and assessment programs for super users and new operators.
- Monitors POC testing personnel proficiency records and ensures that annual expertise training and exams are successfully completed.
- Coordinates inventories and oversees orders for supplies as appropriate.
- Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director.
