JOB SUMMARYThe Transportation Driver 2 performs a variety of delivery duties utilizing a motor vehicle as necessary to ensure the proper distribution of materials to various areas within the health system. Prepares supplies, equipment, special parcels etc. for outbound delivery. Occasionally, this position may prioritize issues and tasks for the driving team while working without direct supervision to ensure proper distribution of STAT, non-STAT materials and equipment to North, South and Central regions within the healthcare system.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
- Ensures correct staging of merchandise for delivery and that supplies and packages are securely prepared. Correctly labels totes, boxes, or pallets and ensures correct shipping documents accompany orders.
- Verifies count and condition of products, and reports overages, shortages, and damage as required. May help in picking, wrapping, and stacking product on pallets.
- Loads trucks safely; ensures proper weight distribution, secures all items for travel, and ensures load meets all government regulations.
- Accurately delivers to specified locations within established timeframes. Completes driver log or trip report under DOT regulations.
- Completes all documentation and manifests required to show proper shipment and receipt of product. Communicates any problems of delivery to the location.
- May manage in the assurance of appropriate documentation and manifests required to show proper shipment and receipt of product.
- Ensures good customer relations by consistently delivering orders on time and acting in a courteous and professional way.
- Prepares purchase order and non-purchase order deliveries and equipment, special parcels, stat and non-stat supplies for outbound delivery to customers daily.
- May manage the load and delivery of product supplies and equipment according to the daily delivery schedule. May steer compliance with all department of transportation (DOT) and company regulations, policies, and standards pertaining to fleet safety compliance.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- Must be able to maintain any licensure as required by the position.
- Must pass a DOT (Dept. of Transportation) type physical.
- Must have a good/safe driving record with no moving violations documented within a one year period.
- Requires knowledge of Texas State Department of Transportation rules of the road.
- Have the ability to manage routes, read maps/directions and operate GPS units.
- Must have a clean driving record and valid commercial drivers license. Must have thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques.
- Ability to communicate with supervisors, current customers and prospective customers on a professional level.
- Demonstrate the ability to read, count and write.
- Demonstrated ability to follow directions and work autonomously.
- Know and watch over all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to self or co-workers.
- Must demonstrate ability to maintain vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to adhere to all safety, productivity and accuracy requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS- EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
- EXPERIENCE - 4 Years of Experience
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
- Medical Examiner Certificate (MEC)
- Annual Driver Review (ADR): Must complete an drivers review yearly.
- Com Drivers License A (CDL-A): Must possess and maintain a valid Texas CDL class A, medical certification and driving record that meets DOT and BSWH standards.
- CDL Drivers Road Test (DRT): Must complete a drivers road test within 30 days of hire.
- Drivers License (TXDL): If moving from out of state must obtain valid TX DL within 90 days of hire.
