This role offers the opportunity to work with a small caseload, allowing for deeper, more impactful relationships with clients while maintaining a flexible schedule. With up to 19 hours per week (including some Saturday hours), this position is designed for those who seek work-life balance while making a meaningful difference in their community.Compensation: $28-30 per hourSchedule:Tuesday and Wednesday 5PM-8PM, Saturday 8:30AM-11:30AMLocation: Hempstead, NY (In-person)Reports To: Program DirectorYour Mission: The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for providing direct treatment services to clients of the New Path Treatment Center.Key Responsibilities:Conduct thorough intakes and assessments for new clients, ensuring tailored treatment plans.Provide individual, family, and group counseling with a focus on creating lasting change.Collaborate with clients' families and criminal justice referral sources to plan for long-term recovery goals.Regularly review client progress, providing updates and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.Maintain accurate and detailed progress notes to track client treatment.Offer crisis intervention and emergency coverage when needed.Conduct random drug tests as part of the treatment process.What We are Looking for?Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent, with a CASAC or provisional QHP certification required.A minimum of two years of experience in addiction services.Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, calendar software, and databases to manage your work efficiently.Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills-your ability to connect with clients and manage details is critical.Why Join Us?Impactful Work: Be part of a mission-driven organization with decades of stability and a strong community presence.Supportive Work Environment: A compassionate and collaborative workplace with a commitment to professional development and industry-leading training.
