A human services organization in New York City is currently seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to join their team.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length: Contract to Hire
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 7am to 3pm or 8am to 4pm
- Setting: Methadone clinic onsite
- Patient Population: Adults with co-morbidities & substance use disorders
- Caseload: 30 cases, no field work
Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with patients to address substance use issues and related concerns
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, taking into account their unique needs and goals
- Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups to address various aspects of addiction and recovery
- Assist patients in identifying and developing coping strategies to manage triggers and cravings
- Provide crisis intervention and support to patients in times of immediate need
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, progress notes, and treatment documentation
Qualifications:
- MSW (clinical supervision will be provided by an LCSW) or CASAC
- Solid assessment and documentation skills
- Patient oriented
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Experience working with Underserved and Substance Use populations
