Position Summary:
The Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT), under the direct clinical supervision of the Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) approved supervisor, completes Substance Use evaluations (American Society of Addiction Medicine, ASAM assessment), conducts recovery-oriented individual and group therapy, and provides training to case managers on the role of substances in the lives of patients. SUDPTs use evidence-based practices to help patients achieve their optimal level of mental and emotional health focusing on substance use issues. They may perform other duties as assigned by the Experiential Therapies Manager or the Director of Clinical Services.
Qualifications
Education
* Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in human services or related field.
* Current WA State independent license in a Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT).
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
* Successful completion of Verbal De-Escalation and Handle with Care certifications, CPR and First Aid; provided during Fairfax new hire training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Ability to conduct individual and group treatment
* Ability to effectively interact with courts, probation departments, and other agencies and referral sources
* Knowledge of practices regarding addiction care
* Knowledge of program components for adult SUD programs, educational groups, and process groups
* Knowledge of patient ASAM assessment, family dynamics, and treatment interventions
* Knowledge of current ASAM Patient Placement Criteria and current DSM substance use criteria
* Comply with required standards for medical/legal reporting situations (e.g., child abuse, dependent adult abuse, duty to warn, etc.)
* Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, patient care conferences, and treatment planning
* Participate in performance improvement projects and activities
* Continued professional development and training
* Participate in training of new staff members
* Maintain flexibility regarding assigned unit and complete other duties as assigned
* Strong interviewing skills
* Strong empathy and rapport-building skills
