Reports To: Principal Supervises: N/A Terms of Employment: To be determined by the Board of Education Salary: $11.08 per hour Primary Job Goal: To carry out appropriate custodial duties needed in local schools, to enhance building and grounds appearance to provide a safe, secure, and wholesome learning environment in support of the district's mission. Performance Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in various areas of the building, including; classrooms, bathrooms, laboratories, offices, corridors, gyms, locker/shower rooms, cafeterias, stairways, walls, windows, outside grounds, other areas as assigned by schedules or directed by Principal or designee.
- Conducts minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as replacing light fixtures or clearing clogged pipes.
- Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and the cafeteria.
- Conducts limited grounds maintenance activities.
- Ensures heating and cooling systems are operational and maintained.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization in the janitor's room, ensuring adequate stock of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
- Washes windows.
- Assists in inspecting the school for safety hazards and reports any deficiencies to the lead custodian, principal, or school resource officer.
- Keep dumpsters and immediate outside areas of the campus clean from litter and debris.
- Properly maintains all equipment and materials used for tasks, keeping them clean and in good working order.
- Moves equipment and furniture to rearrange offices and classrooms or for cleaning purposes.
- Replaces fluorescent light bulbs and other bulbs, including exit lights and signs, as needed.
- Notifies the Lead Custodian of any equipment needing repairs, physical problems within the facility, vandalism, or theft.
Other Functions: Daily attendance and punctuality are required to ensure the goals of the work unit are met. Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally, the job requires 30% sitting, 70% walking, 40% lifting/carrying, and 70% standing.
