Food Service Delivery/Warehouse Person IPay Level 7 on Classified Salary ScheduleJob Description Update approved: May 19, 2011DEFINITIONUnder direct and general supervision of the Food Service Manager, to perform a variety of activities related to receiving, inspecting, processing and storing food, supplies, and equipment in the District Food Service Warehouse; to load delivery vehicle and deliver food daily to designated sites; return to sites to pick up equipment and return to central kitchen; and to do related work as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Personnel in this job classification may perform any combination of the essential duties shown below. - Pulls items from stock to fill orders for delivery.
- Loads a delivery vehicle with a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, and food.
- Drives a delivery vehicle to deliver and pickup sites and loads and unloads the delivery vehicle in specified locations.
- Receives, processes and stores warehouse supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Maintains a variety of warehouse and delivery related records.
- Receives and processes delivery acknowledgement receipts.
- Operates a variety of warehouse equipment, including a forklift, and hand truck.
- Assists in conducting warehouse inventory reviews and in maintaining inventory control procedures on a weekly basis.
- Maintains cleanliness and order of walk-in freezers, refrigerator, and warehouse.
- Assist in maintaining contact with schools in the district to collect and distribute a variety of materials.
- Develops and maintains records and files as necessary for the warehouse in regards to inventorying and ordering.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assists other employees in cleaning, moving and arrangement of equipment, as required.
- Performs minor maintenance tasks in keeping assigned areas safe and operational.
- Performs emergency cleanup service resulting from breakage, vandalism, spilling, and illness.
- Light custodial duties.

- Persons performing service in this position classification will exert up to 100 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- This work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps, and will involve walking or standing for extended periods.
- Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
- Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
- Exposure to cold or freezing temperatures in walk-in freezer or refrigerator.

A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be:Experience:Six months experience operating a mid-size delivery vehicle and performing warehouse receiving and storage functions.Working knowledge of MicroSoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), desirable.Education:Twelfth grade diploma or the equivalent.License Requirement: Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License and adequate insurance coverage on your vehicle.Condition of Employment: Insurability by District's liability insurance carrier. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be: Education: Twelfth grade diploma or the equivalent Experience: Responsible experience in quantity baking and/or cooking in a food service facility whether commercial, institutional, or school food service facility. Some experience preferred but not required Special Requirements: Possession of valid California drivers license.
