Hours: On-Call / Variable Schedule
Pay: $28.51 an hour
Closing Date: December 27th 2024
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Must be able to use email and complete work orders through a computer maintenance management system.
3. Must be capable of working at strenuous labor for a period of eight hours daily.
4. Must be able to lift and handle heavy objects, 90-pound bags of cement on occasion, and 50-pound bags of fertilizer and seed routinely.
5. Must be able to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, walk, grasp and pull, and maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling.
6. Must be able to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions.
7. Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record free of major moving violations and multiple minor moving violations.
8. Must be able to operate a pickup truck while pulling a trailer. Must be able to maneuver a pickup and utility trailer forward and backwards.
9. Must have an understanding of SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and have experience applying and handling pesticides/herbicides and other chemicals.
10. Must have or be able to get a pesticide spray license within 3 months after starting, pending class availability.
11. Must have experience in the operation and care of grounds and ground-related equipment: mowers, edgers, string trimmers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, blowers, etc.
12. Must have experience and knowledge of sports field maintenance or equivalent.
13. Must have experience with the installation, maintenance and operation of multi-zone automatic irrigation systems.
14. Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid first aid card.
15. Must have experience in pruning, fertilizing, aerating, overseeding, and planting different vegetation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintain and care for school grounds as per district standards
2. Operate grounds-related equipment: mowers, edger, string trimmer, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, blower, etc.
3. Perform grounds work outside, year round, in all weather conditions.
4. Install, repair, adjust, and maintain multi-zone automatic irrigation system.
5. Identify plant and tree species and related diseases.
6. Mix and apply herbicides and pesticides and document applications as required.
7. Mow, edge, shovel, rake, dig, trim, cut, prune, etc.
8. Must be able to drive in winter conditions, shovel snow, and spread ice melt.
9. Operate heavy equipment: front end loader, trencher, backhoe, roller, etc.
10. Install and repair fences, including mixing and placing concrete, installing posts, weaving in new fabric, etc.
11. Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment as necessary. This will include cleaning, greasing, changing spark plugs and belts, etc.
12. Demonstrate initiative and an aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks with limited supervision.
13. Maintain positive relations with department and building staff.
14. Other such job-related tasks as may be assigned.
