Department: Health ServicesReports To: Directorof Health ServicesPay Grade: As per substitute pay schedulePOSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSEIn the absence of the regular campus RN, the substitute nurse will provide daily care, administer medications and treatments.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvide assessment and nursing care for ill and injured studentsIdentify signs and symptoms of communicable disease and follow infectious disease control procedures.Demonstrate and utilize knowledge of drug and treatment protocols when administering medication and treatments.Inform principal, principal designee and health services supervisor of health concerns noted on campus.Provide appropriate intervention for crisis situations.Serve as a resource person to students, families and staff as appropriate.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSRN in the state of TexasExperience in community and/or pediatric nursing preferredCurrent CPR certificationCertification in vision, hearing and spinal screening recommendedPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
