The substitute nurse at Southwest Licking Schools is responsible for providing comprehensive health services to students in the absence of the regular school nurse. This role involves responding to health-related situations, administering medical care, maintaining health records, and collaborating with school staff to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students.Location varies based on need.Key Responsibilities:1. Health Care Delivery:* Provide immediate and appropriate care to students and staff in case of illness, injury, or emergency situations.* Administer medication and treatments according to physician's orders and school policies.* Assess and manage student health concerns, including chronic conditions, injuries, and infectious diseases.* Conduct health screenings and assessments as required by school policies or state regulations.* Monitor and manage the health room, ensuring cleanliness and proper maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.2. Record-Keeping and Documentation:* Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students and staff, including immunization records, health assessments, and treatment logs.* Prepare and submit reports as required by the school district, state, or health department.3. Communication and Collaboration:* Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and healthcare providers regarding student health concerns and treatment plans.* Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to address health-related issues impacting students' academic success and well-being.* Participate in meetings, committees, and professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in school health services.4. Emergency Preparedness:* Develop and implement emergency response protocols in collaboration with school administration.* Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures and respond effectively to crises or medical emergencies within the school setting.Qualifications:* Current registered nurse OH RN or LPN license.* Preferred Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.* Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills.* Ability to remain calm and provide effective care in emergency situations.* Proficient in basic computer skills and record-keeping.* CPR and First Aid certification.* Flexibility and adaptability to work in a variety of situations.* Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
