The School Nurse will perform routine technical nursing duties and assist with other related duties involved in providing care for Hebron Public Schools students and staff. Job Summary: The Nurse will perform routine technical nursing duties and assist with other related duties involved in providing care for Hebron Public Schools students and staff. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide direct professional nursing services to students and staff;
- Administer medication with appropriate documentation;
- Maintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with State mandates;
- Perform mandated screening procedures;
- Complete accident/incident reports for students/staff;
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health related issues;
- Compile daily attendance records for each student;
- Perform other health or school related work as assigned.
- Periodically teach health related lessons to students.
- Provide health related trainings, as required, to staff.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with school health, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures
- Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices
- Good knowledge of data entry, record keeping, and the SNAP system
- Knowledge of accepted procedures for disposing of used supplies.
- Ability to observe the general physical condition of patients to detect signs of abnormalities.
- Ability to record observations completely, accurately, legibly, and concisely.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and over telephone.
- Ability to exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment in working with people.
- Ability to accept supervision.
Education and Experience:
- Licensed to practice as a nurse in the state.
