General Definition of Work
Performs human support and administrative work assisting classroom teachers, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Developmental Cognitive Disability Teacher.

Essential Functions
+ Assists classroom teachers with students academic, physical, and behavioral needs; implements Individualized Education Plan goals.
+ Works with individuals or small groups to reinforce material introduced by the teacher; modifies student assignments as needed.
+ Assists with various assignments and tasks associated with student needs; ensures student's assigned work is completed and returned.
+ Performs various office and clerical assistance tasks for the teacher.
+ Locates instructional materials; takes classroom notes.
+ Assists with non-instructional duties including cleaning, copying, posting of bulletin boards, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General knowledge of classroom teaching practices, methods, and techniques; general skill in using classroom and instructional equipment; general skill operating standard computer equipment, hardware and software; some skill using standard accounting software; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to maintain confidential files and information and to compile reports; ability to deal effectively with students and teachers; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, and students.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work frequently sitting and speaking or hearing and occasionally requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, pushing, or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arms length, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
