Job DetailsJob Location Arkansas City Main Campus - Arkansas City, KS Education Level Associates Degree (required) Salary Range $12.00 DescriptionSubstitute Public Safety Officer Cowley College is seeking a substitute Public Safety Officer. Substitute Public Safety Officers are needed to fill in during required shifts. This is a part-time position and is generally not permitted to work more than 28 hours per week. The Public Safety Officer promotes lawful behavior and protects the welfare of students, faculty, staff, and visitors as a uniformed presence on campus. This position performs foot and vehicle patrols of the College campus and outreach centers to monitor behavior, secure buildings and property, investigate disturbances, maintain order during events and enforce regulations. In addition, this position monitors the physical safety of campus and center buildings by locking and unlocking doors, patrolling and monitoring using surveillance systems, and reporting suspicious behavior. During emergency situations, the officer responds to the scene, provides first aid, and alerts additional police or emergency personnel as appropriate. Other duties may include monitoring alarm systems and responding to alerts and serving as crowd control at special events. Required Education/Training Background:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Associates Degree in Criminal Justice or related degree, preferred.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
- Taser Certification.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of security and/or public safety experience. Law enforcement certification, preferred.
- Current valid drivers license with favorable driving record.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Schedule
- Substitute Public Safety officers position operates on a flexible schedule that may include events that occur days, evenings and some weekends.
