Applications are continuously being accepted for this positionSUBSTITUTE REGISTERED NURSE: 10-Month School Calendar PositionRN positions involve caring for the medical needs of students placed in BOCES classrooms which are located in a Special Education Host Site program. Assistance with all medical aspects of the students' day is expected.Plans for periodic examinations and screening procedures as required by State Law and Board of Education Policy.Assists the School Physician with physical, visual, audio screening examinations of students and employees.Administers first aid and emergency treatment to students and employees.Performs medical procedures prescribed by doctors for students .Appraises the mental and physical health status of pupils through observation and analysis of records on a continuing basis.Assists in feeding and care of students with disabilitiesPrepares, maintains and shares information on Cumulative Health Records with appropriate staff.Arranges transportation of sick or injured students or employees to hospital or home.Orders inventory and oversees the storage of first aid and related health supplies and equipment.Assists the administrator in planning and maintaining a safe, healthful school environment, including the establishment and implementation of emergency care procedures.Participates in the development of policies to improve and protect the health of students and school personnel.Prepares records and reports as required.Seeks professional development opportunities to further growth.Carries out all other duties as assigned.Job QualificationsCivil Service Non-Competitive ClassificationMust possess a valid NYS Registered Professional Nurse Licensure; experience in working with disabled students is preferred.
