NATURE OF WORK:

An employee in this field is responsible for supporting equipment in a Virtualized Server and data storage environment at the enterprise level. This employee performs a wide variety of installation, configuration and upgrading of workstations, servers and related

hardware and software in multiple environments. Employee is responsible for planning

and maintenance of the mobile device management system. System Administration roles

include scripting, use of industry standard tools, and knowledge of desktop and server

operating systems, primarily supporting macOS desktops and Windows servers.

Employee coordinates with the Chief Technology Officer and WAN Engineer in the

evaluation of server and storage systems and recommends improvements and

modifications to the existing infrastructure. Employee provides investigation, diagnostic

testing and repair/resolution of system, hardware, software and infrastructure.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Completion of a four year degree in Computer Science, or related field with coursework

in systems administration and two years of system administration experience including

virtual servers and networked storage management; or an associate's degree in Computer

Science or related field, two years of systems administration experience in a virtualized

server and networked storage environment, or any equivalent combination of training and

experience. Knowledge of networking protocols, experience with the latest Linux,

macOS, Windows Server OS and experience with server management and monitoring

utilities. Certification in server operating system's software such as Microsoft Engineer,

VMWare Certification Tracks, NetApp Data Administrator, other appropriate hardware or

software certifications, or any equivalent combination of training, certification, and/or

experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge of

cybersecurity best practices. Or any equivalent combination of training, certification,

and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

DESIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

? 3+ years of experience in a systems engineering role.

? Proven experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of storage

solutions, preferably including NetApp.

? Expertise in virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere.

? Solid understanding of Windows Server and Linux administration.

? 3+ years of scripting experience (Bash, Powershell, Python), including experience

writing scripts that connect software utilizing APIs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Complete configuration, installation and support of equipment in a virtualized server

environment.

2. Manages, monitors, and maintains all servers, storage, and off-site systems as the

primary systems administrator.

3. Plans and executes periodic security and data integrity audits.

4. Lifts and carries 50lb. servers; install rack mount servers and network devices in 2

and 4-post racks with minimal assistance.

5. Provides senior level support of mobile device management solution used in client

computer management, maintenance, security testing, and loss prevention.

6. Provides senior level support of networked server and storage systems including

VMWare, NetApp, Windows and Linux servers.

7. Provides support for all installed server operating systems, including Microsoft

Windows, and Linux distributions.

8. Provides support for all installed desktop operating systems, including Microsoft

Windows, Apple and Chrome distributions.

9. Maintains documentation regarding networked server and storage configuration,

operating procedures, and service records relating to networked hardware and

software.

10. Ensures network connectivity of all servers, workstations, and other network storage

appliances.

11. Documents, troubleshoots, and maintains NetApp cluster storage.

12. Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in

accordance with established objectives.

13. Maintains effective communication with vendors, peers and clients in support of

assigned projects and initiatives.

14. Responding to inquiries from Tech III Technicians, administrators, service providers,

site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support.

15. Supervising the administration of systems and server-related network to ensure

availability of services to authorized users.

16. Creation, maintenance, and monitoring of server, data, and managed computer

security systems including, but not limited to Business Continuity and Disaster

Recovery, Antivirus, and server intrusion/detection.

17. Development of regular metric reporting on system health and resource usage.

18. Attends classes, seminars, conferences and review professional literature to enhance

knowledge of trends and developments related to local area network systems.

19. Make recommendations regarding the development of custom scripts, software, and

processes through which responsible systems are managed and configured.

20. Providing comprehensive documentation on system tasks, maintenance, user

processes, and configuration.

21. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM RESPONSIBILITIES:

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and

tools including computers, scanners, adding machines, computer software, computer

hardware, etc. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5

pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move

objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable,

functional, structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from

obvious standards) of data, people or things.

convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions

training materials, system documentation, etc. using prescribed formats and conforming

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to

define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an

extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form; and to

deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain

procedures, to give oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively

and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages including computer

terminology.

Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and

subtract; multiply and divide; utilize decimals and percentages; understand and apply the

theories of algebra and geometry.

Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width

and shape.

Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and

accurately in using computer equipment.

Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as computer

equipment. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

Color Discrimination: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of

color.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and

receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted

with persons acting under stress.

Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or

exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by

ear.). Must be able to communicate via telephone.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

? Strong knowledge of networked operating systems, computers and related

technologies, including Apple, Linux and Windows OS

? Knowledge of VMware, NetApp, Ansible and other various software applications.

? Manage SSL certificates for servers

? Strong knowledge of SSH including SSH keys

? Skilled in scripting languages such as bash, powershell and python

? Strong knowledge of industry standard MDMs, (eg JAMF, SCCM, Intune)

? Knowledge of VLANs and network subnetting

? Knowledge of network security and cybersecurity best practices

? Knowledge of authentication technologies and their interaction with different

platforms, both on-site and remote

? Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and maintenance documentation

? Ability to maintain complete and accurate records, logs and reports

? Ability to respond to questions and make judgments based on knowledge of computer

equipment and server environments

? Ability to participate in creating cost-effective solutions for system/application

development regarding Information Security

? Ability to set and meet deadlines in collaboration with CTO and peers

? Lift and carry 50lb. servers; install rack mount servers and network devices in 2 and

4-post racks with minimal assistance

? Familiarity with management of Microsoft Active Directory.

? Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written

and verbal.

? Ability to work well with others, as well as independently. Attention to detail.

? Ability to lead and coordinate technical support staff.

? Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.

? Must hold a valid driver's license with no restrictions and possess reliable

transportation.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Full-time for twelve months

Salary based on state and local salary schedules: Grade 76
