Job Description:
Possess a valid California credential or meet requirements for an emergency substitute permit. Satisfy Basic Skills Requirement (BSR) by: BA degree, CBEST, ACT/SAT or qualifying coursework in reading, writing, and mathematics (courses must have been taken at a regionally-accredited college or university for credit, passed with a grade of B or better, be degree applicable, and be at least 3 semester units or 4 quarter units). Copies of the exam results or official transcripts must be provided with your application. For out-of-state trained teachers, please give us a call to see if your out of state basic skills exams qualifies in lieu of the CBEST. The CBEST is given approximately every other month. Registration is on-line at www.ctcexams.nesinc.com. Official Transcripts: Transcripts showing the degree posted and education program/major, including student teaching if applicable, must be provided OR transcripts showing completed classes and classes you are currently enrolled in. It is best to have your transcripts sent to yourself and turn them in to this office with your completed application package. You may open the envelope containing your transcripts, yes, we said open them, but the transcripts themselves must be on a watercolor paper, carry a raised or embossed seal and be signed by the registrar. If ordering e-scripts they must be e-mailed directly from your college or university to ...@kingscoe.org or they will not be accepted. Please email Michelle at this email address to inform her you are requesting transcripts sent to her by your college or university. Grade reports are not acceptable. Possess a valid driver's license and maintain insurability. Must be able to provide your own reliable transportation to work sites within Kings County. Before an applicant can be considered, the must: 1. Be fingerprinted at the Kings County Office of Education for a background clearance from the Department of Justice, the $46.00 fee is paid by the applicant in cash, money order or cashier's check at the time you are fingerprinted. (the Certificated Substitute Live Scan Worksheet is available under the Links Related to This Job, please bring this form, the payment, and a valid ID to your fingerprint appointment.) 2. Attend a New Hire Orientation at the Kings County Office of Education. 3. Provide a current TB clearance (form available under Links Related to This Job - School Staff/Volunteer: Tuberculosis Risk Assessment). ***If you are a First-Time Credential/Permit Applicant*** 1. Your Substitute Permit Options are: A. Emergency Substitute Permit for Prospective Teachers: This permit is for those of you who are currently enrolled in a California 4-year University and have not obtained a degree AND have passed CBEST. The fee for this permit is $100.00 money order OR cashier's check ONLY payable to CTC. B. Emergency 30-day Substitute Permit: This permit requires a bachelor's degree. The fee for this permit is $102.65 payable by debit or credit card, after the Credentials Analyst has submitted your online recommendation. 2. California Commission on Teacher Credential also requires a background clearance from the Department of Justice and the FBI. To be fingerprinted for employment and CTC it is a $100.00 fee paid by applicant in cash, money order or cashier's check at the time of service.
